In episode 68 we make a melodic techno song from scratch using Logic Pro x and its own internal instruments. We set up the DAW to 126 BPP and kick off this session from absolutely nothing.
A good techno track always needs a big kick frum so we begin by processing an existing kick drum to make it bottom heavy and deep. We then program minimal percussions and go straight into a Bass sound using the Alchemy synthesizer.
After browsing a bit we got a sound that is appropriate for this type of music. Very low and loaded with sub frequencies. We immediately add a percussive element to answer the bass and create a compelling sequence.
After programming more percussions we move on to create a brass layer and editing is in the MIDI editor to create the perfect sequence. Then it is time to engineer the sound, with a bit of sound design we get to a strong brass lead that drives the track forward.
We then compose a groovy organ part that will sustain the overall groove of the track. Then we cut the top frequencies of the main brass and keep mainly the groove, perfect fit to out newly added organ synth.
Moving on we record a pad to fill in the high frequencies, this adds a lot of depth and creates yet more movements and adds to our idea of Hypnotic melodic techno vibes.
We then process by adding more percussions and more layers to make this a big sounding track.
