Logic Pro X Progressive Trance Template | EDM Sessions EP096
For episode 96 our host Mikas is making a progressive trance song in Logic Pro X using the Sylenth 1 Synthesizer. We setup the BPM to 132 and the refresh rate to 48000KHZ.
We begin with a MIDI chord progression we previously selected, we also programmed some simple kick, snare and high hats percussion to get a basic groove. First we edit the chord progression so it is simpler and fits the genre better. First step, we set up the sidechain trigger and sidechain the pad so it responds to the kick drum hits. We then import a part of the MIDI and start creating a bassline, we first browse presets in Sylenth1 and once we have something we like we get to refine the pattern.
Second element that goes in the mix is some stabs, to do so we use the same chord progression and set up a pattern that will add some energy to the track. We then create an arpeggiator and insert it in the mix in the higher frequency range.
We then decide to set up an FX send with a twist! First use a large room reverb we are sidechaining to the kick, we then create a send from this channel and use a ring shifter to effect the effect we already sidechained. This is advanced FX processing and the effect of it is stunning. We then decide to add some riser effects to bring a great uplifting vibe.
Next we work on some minimal arrangements and get to record a main lead. The result is a super melodic and happy lead that work to perfection with the track.
We then push the arrangements further with some automations and close the session.
May the sounds be with you.
